He studied at the
John O'Gaunt Community Technology College in Hungerford, Berkshire. Following
his time at John O’Gaunt, he trained in Performing Arts at Middlesex
University, London, where he met Clare Plested and helped co-found the British
comedy theatre troupe Plested and Brown. He has written and performed in all
seven of their shows to date: Carol Smillie Trashed my Room, The Reconditioned
Wife Show, Flamingo Flamingo Flamingo, Hot Pursuit, Minor Spectacular, Health
& Stacey and The Perfect Wife Roadshow. He is a regular at the Edinburgh
Festival and has toured with his company across the UK as well as performances
in Armenia, South Korea and New Zealand.[1]
With the rest of the
Plested and Brown team (Amanda Wilsher and Clare Plested) he has worked with
David Sant (Peepolykus), Phelim McDermot (Improbable), Cal McCrystal (Mighty
Boosh) and Toby Wilsher (ex-Trestle).[1]
He has also worked
with Toby Wilsher on a new mask show, The OFSTED Inspector, with the Passion
Fish Theatre Co.[2]
He currently resides
in London.

Film and television career [edit]
Most recently Brown has appeared as Oswald Potter in latest
series of the children's television programme ChuckleVision on the CBBC. He
has also appeared in several commercials for Money Supermarket, Cheesestrings, Standard Life and Virgin Group.[2]
Brown has also recently been cast as the dwarf Ori in the three-part
adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's The
Hobbit, which will be released in December
2012 and 2013. It will mark his first film appearance.[3] Commenting on Brown's casting, director Peter Jackson was quoted as saying, "Adam is a wonderfully
expressive actor and has a unique screen presence. I look forward to seeing him
bring Ori to life."[4]
